A GRAND DESIGNS STYLE, PARAGRAPH 84 HOUSE

Stanton House (designed by Lathams, of Nottingham, Derby and London) encapsulates important cultural and historical aspects of local life. In particular the history of quarrying and the use of sandstone in the landscape and local buildings. This house is an exemplar of rural housing and was approved under Paragraph 84 of the National Planning Policy Framework, which stipulates that architectural design in the countryside must be of exceptional quality. The circa 9000 ft2 house is designed to meet Passivhaus standards of airtightness and thermal performance and, by using a combination of solar panels and ground source heat pumps, provides adequate energy to achieve a zero carbon solution.
